Wolf Falls New HW8

Brandon Week 8

This is what I have.  I wish I had not procrastinated so much.

John's Week 8 comp WIP..

Hello all

Still working on my submission for this week.

Here is the line art and a roughly shaded image.

I had hoped that my last submission for this class would be more complete.

I have learned a lot from this class and enjoyed every moment of it.  I think that without Craig's input, this image would be much weaker so I am very thankful for the opportunity to participate.

Week 7

Werewolf Falls HW 6

Still a WIP of course :D

Brandons Week 7

I Didn't get very far this week, but here is what i have.

Not completely HW related but pulls ideas from my HW with the Fire Fox poster and my KotoFox. I just started getting back into clay sculpting, I used to clay sculpt my creatures and Pokemon almost 8 years ago but didn't quite know that I had horrible clay plus I was a bit less experienced with art then. x_x;

Anyway.. Here's the two creatures of mine I pulled from to sculpt Fire KotoFox. It's still a WIP.

Week 7 John's WIP for my image "Knight Shift"

The idea for this Illustration is a knight bringing the head of a dragon back to his castle, using a car instead of a horse. I have three slightly different angles I am exploring.

Trying different value arrangements as well. These are my top three. I need to refine the drawing more to get a better idea of the composition.

I then set up a simple scene using a downloaded car model, and simple shapes to help visualize the image.  Learning from my Medusa research, I was able to set something up in 30 minutes.

When I have a better drawing, I may go back the 3d file and experiment with lighting angles and camera focal lengths.

Week 7 John trying to paint leaves and trees..

Hey Craig, Alex, Brandon, and Deborah.

While working towards this weeks assignment, I continued on my Golem composition.  Mainly wanting to work on my tree and leaf painting technique.

Here is what I have done so far.  I have made a few "leaf clumps" and duplicate, deform and color shift to get a base that I can then touch up.

I have not applied any highlights to the Golem yet, but I did adjust the overall brightness.

Here is a image showing the leaf clumps. I started with a flat shape, added light volumes, and then added smaller details. I used the lightest value to added the quickly suggest the starting leaf shapes and then refined with other values

Much of this work on this image was done using Clover Paint on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The main exception being color adjustments and these leaf painting experiments when I used mostly Photoshop.
If any one is interested, I found a pretty useful "leaf brush" here:

I prefer to use simple brushes, but this has been helpful to get me going on a foliage technique, at least for now.  Many more brushes can be found here:  Digitalbrushes on tumblr
